What You Need To Know About Visiting The Setai at Miami Beach

The Setai is a gleaming 40-story glass castle that rises from a secluded and private section of Miami Beach. This structure is the tallest tower on the beach, standing superior to all others in the nearby vicinity. The views are unsurpassed, and the design is beyond compare. It stands as an annex to an Art Deco landmark that was built with an international Asian Deco flavor. This vintage building was originally built between 1936 and 1938, when it was called the Dempsey Vanderbilt Hotel. These two buildings, now united as one, are currently known as The Setai Hotel and Resort of Miami Beach.

This is an upscale, high-end resort for the rich and famous, with an emphasis on privacy, luxury and exclusivity. It offers rooms beyond your wildest dreams and out-of-this-world amenities. It is located in the middle of Greater Miami Beach on the Atlantic Coast side of Florida, across the freeway from the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.

Best Time To Book a Stay

Even in the middle of the winter, Miami’s weather is pleasant, with highs around 73 degrees, lows around 65 degrees and only a few days of rain. Sweater weather in Miami is a nice change from the heat. In fact, you may prefer to visit between November and May when there are fewer tourists and rainy days.

The hottest months, for those of you who are sun worshippers, are August and September, and even then the average temperature increases to only 85 degrees. This is the height of tourist season, however, so be sure to book well ahead of time to ensure you get a room. This is also monsoon season, and there are on average around a dozen rainy days annually during this period.

The amenities offered in each guest suite at the Setai Miami Beach Resort are so luxurious that you may be tempted never to leave your room. However, if you would like to spend some time in the Miami sunshine – or moonlight for that matter – try hanging out in one of the three infinity pools: a 75-degree lap pool, an 85-degree center pool or a 95-degree family pool. Or you can lounge poolside, where magazine service, drinks and appetizers from the bar, water and towels are provided. If you prefer, take a stroll on the private stretch of beach or relax on an ocean-side lounger and watch the clouds go by.

Explore Famous Neighborhoods

You are also welcome to explore Miami neighborhoods using bicycles or the private hotel car. Don’t miss some nearby landmarks, including: Lincoln Road in the heart of Miami, where you can visit nightclubs and enjoy ethnic foods and other nightlife; Coconut Grove, which is now populated by galleries, boutiques and pubs but was once a hangout for hippies; Calle Ocho, which is a neighborhood steeped in the Cuban culture; the Art-Deco-influenced Ocean Drive; the Mediterranean revival neighborhood of Coral Gables; or the Wynwood Design District, which sponsors Art Walks and other art-centered activities.

Local Entertainment and Attractions

Take a day to peruse the art museums such as the Deering Estate Museum of Contemporary Art or the Bass Museum of Art. Or enjoy an outdoor exhibit at the Vizcaya Gardens.

If you prefer a night on the town, explore the offerings at the Ziff Ballet Opera House or Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Indulge your senses with a performance of the Miami City Ballet New World Symphony. Or, the hotel concierge can advise you on the best places to bar-hop on Miami’s South Beach based on your interests.

Take advantage of a little time in the great outdoors. The Setai Miami has a custom-engineered fleet of bicycles and matching helmets exclusively for the use of its guests. The tires are specially designed for an easy ride along the shore. Towels, sunscreen and flip-flops are provided in case you want to dismount and play in the waves. You can even order a gourmet picnic cooler to take along for the ride.

You can also charter a yacht and go out on the azure blue waters. Rentals include catered onboard dining. While you are on the water, enjoy some deep-sea diving or snorkeling and discover the world below the horizon.

For a bit of sport, why not play a few holes of golf or challenge your roommates to a game of tennis? Focus and re-center with a Tai chi class or a yoga session on the beach.

And there are plenty of options for entertaining the kids, as well. Take them to Zoo Miami where they can watch animals being fed and learn about wildlife based on the continent where they live. Visit the Museum of Science and encourage them to learn by taking part in experiments and demonstrations. You can also head to the Seaquarium with its dolphin and whale performances, or to Miami Children’s Museum.  And don’t miss out on Jungle Island with some 500 assorted jungle animals and more than 3,000 parrots.
